I've been waiting ages to post these (finally got Oppo approval!), so they're a bit old, but we'll start with one of my favorite weirdly rare finds in Los Angeles' smaller historically Japanese neighboorhood: a Corolla 1.8 Coupe (E70, 1980-83 I believe, but I'm not a Toyota expert). Any input on the details would be welcome, because I really know nothing about older Japanese vehicles.
I do know this Corolla is a deep, lusty rust-brown.
No bells and whistles on this thing - it looks bone stock with base level trim. I have never before seen a Corolla coupe (that wasn't a fastback / hatchback) of this vintage, and I know even the later Corolla 2-doors are exceedingly rare in America. I'm guessing this was special ordered by the original owner back in the day, and has probably been with them ever since!
This isn't a great photo (I haven't seen the car since, sadly), but I do have other vehicles I've photographed in the area that I'd love to share, and will do so soon.

I think this was called 2-door sedan. There was another very similar bodystyle that was called coupe.

Slight correction: it seems that Toyota referred to the AE70 Sprinter as hardtop not coupe.

I love seeing an unaccountable immaculate econobox from way back when. My neighborhood is full of them .

I had this car!!! 1981 in yellow with black interior!!!
My dad bought it used as a salvage from an accident for my sister. Then she sold it to my other sister. Then i got it and sold it to someone else. 81 to 93 we had it! Great car. Light as hell so fun to drive. Liked 63mph on the freeway, not 64mph. That minor change was the difference between a relatively loud ride and the car actually wanting to shake and blow up.
No AC but all the air you could let in with the cranked windows.
I drive an AWD V6 8 passenger minivan with 2000 airbags that weighs as much as a battle ship now. Its like driving a bugatti in comparison. But i miss that old yellow car. I do.
